Still here, just boring.

Ack. For a long time now I've had nothing in particular to blog about. Plenty of little things going on, but nothing big enough for a post with a point. And Mr Bon has very wisely counselled me against doing "oh hi still nuthin going on kthxbai" posts every few days. I did come very close to posting when I almost electrocuted myself (mildly) with a car and a paperclip - I was going to use the extremely witty title of "Shock Treatment", which is also one of my favourite movies.

I also considered posting about knit-nutt's Hawaiian-themed birthday party, but seeing as I was the ONLY person (what're the chances of that??) who turned up in a bikini and a grass skirt, I didn't quite feel comfortable jumping up and getting Mr Bon to take pictures for the interwebs. I did take a picture of Tess though. She was too lazy to get together a proper costume, & only had a hibiscus behind her ear.

I'd like to be able to give a reason for my lack of interesting activity as eloquent as earthmotherwithin's latest blog post. I have been feeling extra exhausted lately, which has cut down on productivity, but on the other hand I'm exhausted/mildly ill so often that I can't drop everything and "nurture myself" each and every time. I think with my personality I need to err on the side of just trying to get something done, even if it's only a small thing.

This afternoon was an epic effort in the small things department - our dishwasher is out of action until I can track down some parts, so the kitchen became a giant smelly mess. I think I did about five sinkloads of washing up today, and these pictures don't even show the full extent of washing-up-ness. I ran out of room to stack things for drying, so ended up stacking things in the bottom of the dishwasher.

There was also a mass bokashi-ing of food scraps, which led on to sending out the bokashi juice and some worm juice to the citrus trees (via the greywater system). At one stage I had to stop doing the washing up to let my fingernails dry out, so I used that time to put on a load of washing.

I'm completely knackered now, but I shouldn't quite give up for the night yet - I'm part way through updating my CV and would really like to get it finished by the weekend.

I considered doing a "thoughts on the new year" style of post, like knit-nutt's, but I don't think I'm going to have that kind of a year. If I can get through it without any serious setbacks to my health, with one or two relaxing holidays, and even better - a permanent job - then that will be enough for me. If I set any other goals it would feel like over-stretching myself.

Hah, Tess looks awesomely cute there :D

You weren't tempted to play the "How high can I stack this pile of dishes without it all falling in a heap" game then? :P

I considered it, but it seemed dangerous enough just stacking 4 sharp knives on top of two pots and an oven tray, and under two bowls. Such an exciting life I lead! :D
