Peaceful Sunday

Well Mr Bon and I have had quite an interesting weekend.

We spent all day on Saturday in a New Homes Seminar run by Home Base Expo. It was a bit of a struggle as my IBS flared up that morning and it was such a long day, but on the other hand it was extremely informative and well worth doing. We've got a better idea now of where our plans are going.

Sunday was definitely a take-it-easy day, since we lost all of Saturday. We started slow, but I still managed to get quite a lot done:
  • tidied the whole house up, did the washing and the dishes
  • picked up our sofa bed from a friend's place
  • did the grocery shopping
  • did the monthly greywater maintenance
  • fed the worm farm
  • fed the vegies and refilled the slater trap
  • fed a few potted trees

  • I try to do the greywater maintenance on the weekend which falls closest to the start of a new month. There are two tasks: switching the filters over and cleaning the used ones; and flushing each of the drip lines in turn.

Having a close-up look at the mulch around each of the fruit trees, it's clear that they're very much due for a new dose of manure and mulch. I've got plenty of mulch and a pretty good supply of manure, so that's definitely on the list, but I did want to finish the weeding first.

I was amazed at how full the slater trap was - good news, since it means they're finding their way into the trap even when Mr Bon & I aren't out there chucking them in. However, I did get in some trouble the first time I set it up - apparently the beer I purloined from Mr Bon's stash was quite fancy and expensive, so this time I'm going to try water with rum, which I've used to successfully drown snails in the past.

Now I'm just going to take it easy for the evening.. I've got Mr Bon's self saucing chocolate pudding to look forward to! :)
