I've started Three Tomatoes Short to have a place to track various projects, and to compensate for being too lazy a friend to let my friends know what I'm up to.
Real posts are still to come, but I'll be starting off by tracking the progress of vegie bed #1 in my garden, which after years of hibernation is finally ready to be planted out.
Later on I'll babble away about plans to build a new house and all the difficult decisions which need to be made.
No doubt I'll also spend a lot of time talking about my dog :D
Oh, and why "Three Tomatoes Short"? It's a quote from a particularly fun episode of Midsomer Murders. Three tomatoes short of a salad.

Wooohooo..... welcome to the land of blogging. So pleased as now I can see your garden as it feeds you both:D
Great start. Love those raised beds.
Blogging is fun and informative thats for sure.
The Midsomer Murders episode was on Dutch TV tonight, had to Google the quote and found you!
Hello, anonymous Dutch reader! Welcome :) Goodness gracious, I never would have thought I would get a comment from so far afield :) I think you're the first person to comment who I haven't actually told about the blog to begin with - hurrah!
Hello Bon, I have to say that after the comment about the real killer in the episode was made, the 3 tomato's line stuck to my brain. And tried to find out whether it's a known or a made up expression. I think they made it up. On Dutch TV we have subtitles and it got lost in translation unfortunatly. Well so far for now, I'll check your blog later a bit more, it's a little confussing to me still...
Take care,
Marcel
I live in Sweden and that Midsomer Murder episode aired today. When I heard the line about the tomatoes I just felt the urge to google it and voila... I found this blog! :)
Hi there bon008,
I saw the episode tonight and needed to google it as well... And then I was here ;)
Do I need to say that I love the expression... One question? Is this a phrase you can use or is it a brilliant "midsommer murders" quotation?
Cheers
Fredrik from Sweden
Hello and welcome, Swedish readers! :)
I had no idea Midsomer Murders was so widespread and popular.
Fredrik, I definitely think you can use the quote in everyday conversation. I've actually heard a few different variations, I just can't quite remember them now. Maybe a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic? I guess you could make up any version you like!
lol
I just saw episode Small Mercies and wondering about this expression.I love Midsomer Murders(I've already seen next 2 episodes The Creeper and The Sword of Guillaume, forgot about this one till now),which episodes I download via torrent sites and then watch it on my laptop because I can't wait few years to appear on local TV channels.Show is unique and different from popular American trash-TV shows.
When is next episode scheduled?
Sorry for my English
Greetings from Belgrade,Serbia
